The Five Hohl Pre-Playoff Update and Plans
Hello everyone,
Typically, we'd be sharing our content for our premium tiered subscribers on Wednesdays. However, with one game remaining in the season, I've decided to push it back to Friday to ensure that I have all 82 games tracked for our microstatistics. While I'll still feature my mailbag section for Featurette Friday, I may need to trim some other regular features depending on time constraints.
So, I'd like to take this opportunity for a brief, informal post to outline my plans for the playoffs.
Starting next week, on April 22, 2024, we'll be changing our regular posting format for the duration of the Jets' playoff run:
Instead of my usual three posts per week, I'll be posting twice after each game.
Immediately following each game, I'll provide a quick recap as swiftly as possible. This recap will consist of a general overview of the game and a section reserved exclusively for our premium tiered subscribers.
Then, early the following day, I'll publish a more in-depth post covering the game, the series up to that point, and any trending topics or questions submitted by you. This post will also include a brief section for our premium subscribers where I'll update and analyze the manually tracked microstats for the entire playoffs thus far.
For microstats tracking, now that I feel confident in my abilities and I’ve dusted off most of the old rust, I will be adding some additional events for tracking.
Zone exits will now be split into controlled, uncontrolled, failed, and icings —ie: I’m splitting out icings from failed exits.
Zone entries will now be split into controlled, uncontrolled, failed, and dump ‘n change —ie: I’m splitting out uncontrolled entries where there’s no attempt to forecheck/retrevial.
Entry defense (allowed and denials) will stay the same.
Non-transition microstats will now have: defensive zone retreval success, defensive zone retreval failed, defensive zone possession recovery, neutral zone possession recover, offensive zone possession recovery, forecheck pressure.
The last list is a bit of a significant increase haha. I will go into all of these in detail in the premium tiered sections, but will be posting a quick summary graphic for between periods and after the game:
Once the Winnipeg Jets either win the Stanley Cup or are eliminated from the playoffs, my posting schedule will change again. However, the specifics will depend somewhat on how far the Jets progress.
I'm planning to take a short vacation around June 22-27. During that time, I'm unlikely to post unless there's breaking news (such as a trade or extension).
Upon my return, our focus will shift to the NHL Entry Draft and Free Agency.
Following that, I'll begin seasonal reviews and grades, along with some exciting additional plans.
Stay tuned!
