GAME 65: JETS 2 - PREDATORS 4
Jets had a little bit of difficulty dealing with the Nashville Predators forecheck, especially the more puck moving focused defender of each pairing —Josh Morrissey, Neal Pionk, and Colin Miller.
I view Mark Scheifele as a very important piece for the Jets. I would suggest that Connor Hellebuyck is the greatest factor, followed by Josh Morrissey. After that, there’s definitely a debate between Mark Scheifele, Nikolaj Ehlers, and now maybe even Tyler Toffoli. The argument for the two wingers are via first order effects with how high of an impact they carry on the team’s goal differential, but for Scheifele there’s likely some second order effects given his importance of being the top pivot and the Jets not really having any solid alternatives.
That said, I thought the Jets poor play this game was more than just missing Scheifele, and could very well have turned out just as bad with him.
