MICROSTATISTICS WEEKLY REVIEW
I wanted to finish tracking game 59 after tonight’s (or last night’s for many of you) game. Because of this, we’re a bit late in getting this out, and also I haven’t had time to edit the article. So, appologies for the tardiness and also the grammar/spelling more akin to my Twitter account.
SECOND EDIT:
Sorry everyone. I hit publish then closed my laptop. I did it too fast and so I closed the laptop before the article was published hahaha. Oh well, I noticed now. Here you go!
GAME 59: JETS 5 - HURRICANES 3
I finally got time to go back and watch this game for tracking. It was interesting to hear Sawyer talk about the narrative of Carolina shooting pucks from everywhere when the first 6 shots on net were mostly fairly high-danger shots (slot shot, low-to-high pass, rush shot, rebound, etc.).
Jets started off poorly, but came out strong in the third period. I’m unsure if there was anything that could have given the Jets top line a jolt. /s
GAME 62: Jets 3 - Kraken 0
This game was fairly rough in parts, but the Jets were able to minimize the mistakes they made by blocking more of the Kraken’s shots than they had blocked, and were fortunate that Seattle struggled to hit the net.
Josh Morrissey had one of his strongest analytical performances of his career… which is saying something because you could probably say the same thing about two games prior. Mark Scheifele also had a really good game offensively.
GAME 63: Jets 0 - Canucks 5
The Jets did not show up to play against Vancouver, again. Last time they were able to get some opportunistic goals and Hellebuyck kept the door shut… this time, not so much.
Through a good chunk of the season, Bowness kept over using the Adam Lowry line. Yet, I find it interesting that they did not see much ice time this game despite their strong performance.
